Today after having a great breakfast including making our own Belgium waffles we headed off to do some swimming! No - we did not do a polar bear plunge....instead we headed to the Six Flags indoor waterpark! First let me say the hotel is beautiful. It is a giant Adirondack style lodge. The inside is very rustic but beautiful.
We hit the waterpark. The first thing we enjoyed was the lazy river. Next Nick and Mikayla went done Avalanche which is the family raft slide (Zack was afraid to go). THe waterslides are really cool because the slides actually go outside the main building. After that Nick hit the other waterslides while the rest of us headed down to the lazy river again. Zack and Mimi enjoyed swimming in one of the little inlets. After Nicholas caught up with us we formed a choo choo and went around the lazy river a zillion times.
Finally Nicholas decided to try his hand (or body) at surfing.

Finally we decided we were water logged enough and decided to leave. We headed outside and it was snowing! Swimming and snowing all in one day....oh did I mention Kathy had to wear her wet bathing suit home! After getting home and taking showers, Kathy packed up all our stuff so we would not have to do it the next morning. We watched a little tv and finally decided to head out to Long John Silvers for dinner. After dinner Kathy went shopping at JoAnn's (love that place). We headed back to the hotel and watched Twilights New Moon.

Well, we awake this morning. We are well rested and Kathy is feeling a little better, but the weather is really cold today. We decide to change our plans a little bit because of the brutal cold. We decide that instead of going tubing we will go sliding and then we will go shopping. So after breakfast we head down to the lake to the ice slide and hill armed with out new slides. The kidss were kamikazi sliders. Let's just say on the first slide down - Mikayla went down the stairs, Zack slid down into a lamp post and Nick slid off a brick wall! The kids had a GREAT time and noone got hurt, although I think we all busted a rib laughing so hard! Next after changing and warming up we headed out for lunch. We went to Sweet Basil. The restaurant was excellent. We all enjoyed our meals. So we have 2 trivia questions today...... 1. On the menu was something called muff lotto....what is it? 2. Here are pictures of what we had to eat....match up each meal with the person. After a late lunch we headed out to find who could find the best deal of the day. Zachary was very happy he was able to find a video game that he was looking for, 2 Halo toys, and a new hat. Nick only bought a video game but he also bought birthday gifts for Mark and Jeanette (Happy Birthday), Kathy bought a new game (for girls weekend!!!!) but Mikayla won the prize for the deals of the day....she bought 3 new shirts and a new wool jacket and a dress for the 8th grade social....Regular price - $210 what she paid - $35!!!! She said it was like stealing the stuff and dropping a little money on your way out the door! She also bought a birthday present for Kathryn (Happy Birthday!) We headed back to the hotel for a light dinner since we were all still stuffed from lunch. Zachary has been anxiously awaiting the new Penguins of Madagascar and Kathy and Mikayla were awaiting 24! Speaking of which our thoughts and prayers go out to Kiefer Sutherland who under went emergency surgery for a ruptured cyst near his kidney

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!
We have had an incredible day in NY. Today we got up early and headed down to the lake. Mikayla and Nick went hot air ballooning! We were able to get the last flight before they had to ground the balloon cuz the wind was picking up to 5mph.
Next we came back to the hotel to warm up and freshen up. Next we headed out to buy a few souveniers. Next we headed back to the lake. We were headed to try our hand a dogsledding but we were disappointed to find out that they were still not there. But we found out they were not there because there was not enough snow for them to be able to pull on the snow.
But instead Nick got an experience I know he will NEVER forget. Nick went for a helicopter ride over the lake! He sat next to the pilot and got some incredible camera shots. (Mikayla and Zack did not want to go!)
After Nick landed, Zachary played some of the kids. We found that he has been learning alot from bowling every week - cuz he got a spare in the Turkey Bowl. He also landed both of his shots in the toss. He ended up winning $3!
We headed back down main st to Mama Riso's for lunch. Nick and Kathy had spaghetti and meatballs, Mikayla had chicken tenders and Zack had manicotti. Nick decided he liked Minestrone soup, and the garlic bread he declared was to die for.
After lunch we headed to Walmarts to pick up some supplies as well as some sleds for tomorrow. Because Kathy was not feeling too good we headed back to the hotel. The kids played and watched tv while Kathy took a nap hoping that would make her feel better. We had a light dinner. Then the boys went swimming.
So now for todays trivia contest.....
The hot air balloon company told me that during their regular 3 hour flight experience they follow old school traditions. So the question is....what do they present the landowner (of where the balloon lands) with?

Wow what abusy fun day. After getting up and getting ready we had a great breakfast - FREE at the hotel (we had eggs, bacon, french toast, bagels, danish, cereal, fruit, yogurt, muffins). We returned back upstairs and suited up in warm clothes. We drove to the center of town to the Carnival. We stopped at this castle made of ice - including a throne the kids sat on.
Next the kids tried out the giant ice slide. Zachary came down it on his belly and he looked like one of the penguins. Next we headed out onto the Lake. Eveything you could possibly imagine was on the ice with us - including an airplane and a helicopter. There were ATV and motorcycle races going on and people were zipping around on snowmobiles everywhere. Mikayla and Nick had a great time sliding around on the ice like they were ice skating. Zack on the other hand was afraid we were going to fall in!
We walked over to watch the Encampment of 1757.
Trivia question for the day....what were the 2 groups involved in the Encampment of 1757?
Next we walked down around the side of the lake. We watched as they blew up a hot air balloon. We were able to walk INSIDE the balloon. It was massive! You really don't understand how big they are until you get inside of one.
Zachary stopped to get his face painted - a snowman of course! The kids (or specifically Mikayla) started to get cold so we decided to head back to the hotel. We had lunch in our room. The boys decided to go swimming. Kathy's cold was getting the best of her so we hung out in the room for a while.
We headed down to the Lake for fireworks at 630. After we headed to the Old Chinese Buffet. Kathy stopped to pick up juice for her cold and back to the hotel. This hotel offers movies that are still in the theater! We were going to rent one but decided $15 was a little steep - although cheaper than taking eveyone to the movies! We settled for Enchanted...it is Valentines Day tomorrow. Headed to bed early - cuz we have a busy day tomorrow!

Well after leaving at 2pm. We started our drive. What a easy drive - well except the constant question from Zack - "Are we there yet?" But we found a great solution - I found a game at Klems called - you got it - 'Are we there yet?' - so everytime someone asked the question we had to play the game. It basically is a scavenger hunt. I would highly recommend it to anyone traveling by car!
We arrived in Lake George at 5pm making great time. Our hotel for the stay is Wyndham by Wingate, right in the center of Lake George. Our hotel room has a fridge and microwave in it. After checking in and unpacking we decided to head out to find somewhere to eat. First we drove into Lake George center.
I have not been here since 1989 (The disasterous camping trip!) But as I drove down the strip I found myself telling the kids either about places that are still there - A&W Rootbeer, the campground. - but also about what used to be there - Gaslight Village :(
But I also had things I forgot about until I saw them - The House of Frankenstein - we used to have to walk on the other side of the street because Frankenstein would be outside and my sister was afraid of him!
We turned around and headed towards Glens Falls. Originally we were going looking for Long John Silvers - but we came across Johnny Rockets and my kids begged me to go there. So we went in and the waitress seated us in the sports bar - in the Red Sox/Patriots section (maybe it was because Zack had his Patriots shirt on). I think we had the waitress in awe. She delivered our food, went to the kitchen and when she came back to ask if everything was ok - Nick had INHALED his burger - it was COMPLETELY gone. I don't think the waitress knew what to say. They have all you can eat fries - so after Nick had seconds she also packed him a box of fries to take home.
We headed back to the hotel and the kids took a swim in the pool. We headed back to the room and headed to bed.
